Person of Interest: Lisa L. Zeller
Citation #P5190612-0 - Attempted to Abandon Dog in Commonwealth
The case was held in abeyance for 90 days and dismissed.
According to a Dec 13, 2007 article in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, "Lisa L. Zeller, 41, of 232 N. Lake Road, Thomasville in York County, pleaded guilty to identity theft and access device unauthorized by issuer. She was sentenced to probation for two years. She was also ordered to pay restitution of $11,162.72."
Lisa is sick with AIDS and she wants to make her mark on something she believes in. I am asking, on a humanitarian level, that we help her to help animals, not blackball her. She has had this disease for 14 years and is VERY sick with it. I am asking that you convince her, or allow me to convince her that it would be in her best interest, to do crossposting so she will not be exposed to the illnesses of the pups she wants to save. Anyway, I would also like for one of you to ask ******** to help guide Lisa too. I know her heart is in the right place, she is just going about this the wrong way and doesn't have the experience yet to do the right things. I am trying to convince her to work helping another rescue or to volunteer at a shelter so she can "learn the ropes", which will get the dogs OUT of her hands and still give her a sense of being needed and doing the right thing. If you have any ideas here, PLEASE help me out. I am looking at this from a humanitarian view--this woman is dying a slow death from AIDS and wants to do something to make her passing meaningful. I want to keep animals safe too but I also don't want to strip her of her dignity either.

I just emailed Diana myself to ask a few questions and here was her response to my email - I do not know her personally, but she does seem very easily approachable so if anyone had more questions, I'm sure she would answer them:
From: "Diana's Animal Rescue" <firstname.lastname@example.org">email@example.com> [Add to Address Book]
I house several of them with me. My kennel license allows 10 adult dogs and unlimited amount of puppies under the age of 5 months. Here in Maryland, I have along list of pre approved adoptive parents that wait for puppies. Puppies are harder to come by and pet stores charge $400-500 a piece so when rescue puppies come available they go fast. I have been very busy calling vet references, verifying home ownership, doing home visits, does not feel like I ever stop. I also have quite a few foster parents that take in animals for me. I also advertise in the local papers for foster and adoptive parents and recruit more like that and then do the whole background check on them. My mother also has alot of land and keeps some of the animals there for me until permanent homes can be found. I think I answered all of your questions, feel free to answer these questions if anyone asks about it. If they have anything else to ask, they can email me theirselves and I will respond.

Permission to crosspost:
Both these women are MAJOR DNAS!! Do not let this transport go through!! Diana Mizell has had run-ins with her local AC, taken pups from a shelter and didn't vet them before handing them out to "adopters" and then the pups died. She has also dumped pups that she got under false pretenses from CCH. The Vet Diana claims to use has never seen any of the pups she has obtained from other states and her personal pets are NOT UTD!!
Lisa Zeller, aka Lisa Williams, aka Bitsy Dodd, is also doing the same thing. She has lied about her vet reference, using her own phone number as her vet ref!! This woman has also been caught DUMPING a mother dog!!! See the info BELOW!!

Transport coordinator, rescue
It is my opinion that this rescue and person should be listed DNA/DNR/Do Not Transport.
This rescue/person has been denied rescue/adoption in NJ and GA. In my opinion, she has a poor vetting history, vet references, inconsistencies and lies. No adoption fee - Lisa stated she gives the dogs away. No record from vets of dogs being spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Two days ago she had no website, no adoption form, no contract. Since that time she has come up with a website and contract, but not on Petfinder which would require a good vet reference.
Please use good judgment when offering to adopt, release, or transport animals to this rescue. This rescue looks for "last minute" saves and transport help and has been tried to obtain puppies from GA, WV, VA, TN

We believe the following facts and circumstances are true. Where such information is upon belief I further state that I believe this information to be true.
Clay Co recently sent several pups and a mom to Small Wonders. We checked references and what we thought was her vet. Today we received an email about SW being on DNA list.
I started recheck. Here is the facts about SW as I found out this evening
The vet number in which Bitsy aka Lisa gave is not a vet number, in fact when I recalled that number Bitsy herself answered the phone. When ask why she gave this number as her vet number she could not explain, and stuttered around the issue. She then gave me another number stating it was her vet's office. I called that number, at first the message stated it did not have a voice mail account. Then few minutes later I called getting a message in a voice that sounded alot like Bitsy with a cold. My phone holds the last 5 numbers that I call and I checked the numbers from the first try to the one with the voice mail and it was correct, I checked with the state vet's directory and no vet by the name listed in the voice mail.
When I ask Bitsy if she was Lisa, she said no when in fact I spoke to Ellen at the state inspector's office and she informed me of the following that Bitsy is alias for LIsa
She is not 501(c)3
Not licensed with the state, this week will be the 3 visit from the State inspectors office. She told people that her husband was a retired vet, Bitsy told inspector that she told this to get poeple off her back. Inspector has not seen any documents as to where the dogs have gone. No adoption application. No records of any vetting.
What we are in the process of doing. We have an attorney (free) to the Humane Assoc. she is already working on this and tomorrow someone will be going to PA to press charges against Small Wonders, our attorney feels we have a very good case as Bitsy obtained our dogs under false pretense.
We will not let this die, we are hoping to get our dogs back, but the inspector said there were no signs of the 14 pups and mom on the property when she was there to inspect last time. There was however a sign on the lawn stating pups for adoption. Bitsy told us our dogs were in isolation for another week. I truly doubt this to be true.
The night of the transport after meeting the 2 ladies and the situation as it was that they wanted to put our pups in with other pups from other shelters I told another vol. that I had a very bad feeling and we should not send the pups, on the other hand I thought it was just me being overly protective of our kids. I sent them and I regret it very much. I wish I had listen to my enter thoughts.
We are charging SW tomorrow, it may be too late for our pups BUT I will make sure that Bitsy aka Lisa will never get another animal from anyone. Is anyone in the PA area willing to go to the authorities with us tomorrow to press charges against this group.

"Tee told me that 'Lisa Zeller' was dons exwife. In a subsequent conversation, after she told me she had a chance to bring up Don't ex wife with him, Tee told me that again, his exwifes name was Lisa Zeller, but that she also went by the name of 'Melissa', and that Don told her that 'she was sitting in an upstate NY jail on drug charges'. Tee created her guestbook at 7:32 in the morning. Now go up three entries and you see the entry by 'Lissa' at 8:41 in the morning. What are the chances that this ex wife would place an entry in Tee's newly created guestbook 10 minutes after it was created? And all this while the ex wife supposedly was sitting in a jail on drug charges in upstate NY?"
