...it would mean a great deal to me if you would honor the son of my friends Sarah and Dennis Dame.  Evan was killed in a car accident this weekend and is/ was just 14 years old (still not handling past tense with this very well). His 16-yr old brother was driving the car and they slipped on ice and went head on into a police car. The family owns and loves horses.

Razz

1987-2008

This is Razz, my pretty little "Class A" Pintaloosa.  You can see her wonderful, colorful markings.  What
you cannot see are the scars from the abuse she suffered in her earlier years.

Razz was a horse, who, when shown love and compassion, gave her whole heart, unconditionally.  All she
ever wanted was to please you.

She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside.  I'm sure she is looking down and smiling to
see another horse in need, wearing her blanket.

I will always love and miss my Razz.

Garrett's Memorial

Garrett was born on May 20, 2006 in Mankato, MN to Randy Soltau and Tina Nelson.  Garrett bravely fought his illness with patience and love.  He enjoyed making ferret faces, being read to, singing, learning sign language, horse back riding with his mom, 4 wheeling with his dad, spending time with his horses, dogs and cat.  Although Garrett’s life was short, he leaves a lifetime of memories for all those whose hearts he touched with his crazy, fuzzy hair and his contagious smile.

Garrett's family has asked that in his precious memory the horses that he so loved be assisted.

Family Honors Son's Memory
Published Date: 07-13-2007 11:07 PM CT
An area couple is honoring the memory of their young son. Garrett
Soltau was born with an esophageal fistula: his trachea was hooked to
his esophagus. Garrett also suffered from a "floppy airway", meaning,
at any time, his airway could collapse. Doctors performed surgery to
fix the problem, which went perfectly. But when Garrett was coming
out of anesthesia, he crashed. Tina Nelson, Garrett's mother
says, "We're pacing and praying and hoping everything will come out
all right. But it didn't." Garrett died at one year, one month, one
week and one day old. Now, his parents are donating all the money
they receive to 'Another Chance for Horses'. The organization will
rehabilitate a horse and donate it to a disabled child... all in
Garrett's name. Nelson says, "That there's going to be another child
who will know the joy and therapy of spending time with horses,
really appreciate that." If you'd like to donate to Garrett's
Memorial, please head to our website. We'll link you to "Another
Chance for Horses." Just go to KEYC.TV and click on Featured Links.

Bob

If it should be that I grow frail and weak

And my pain keeps you from your sleep,

Then will you do what must be done

For this here fight just can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand

But don't let grief stay close at hand.

For on this day, more than the rest,

Your love and friendship must stand the test.

Please for me just dry your tears

And think of all the happy years.

You wouldn't want me to suffer so

When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me to where my needs they'll tend

I only wish for you your heart will mend.

I know in time you will agree

It is with kindness what you must do for me.

Although my mane it's last will wave

From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Please do not grieve that it had to be you

Who had to decide what you must do

Don't be sad but for me please,

Just think of all the happy memories.

Love, Bob

November 1, 2007...

The buckskin mare, saved by the Lemonade Girls, and named "Faith", had to be euthanized due to lameness issues that could not be fixed, and were getting worse.  She was in pain.  She lived her last weeks as a happy pet, and was spared the horrific brutality of slaughter.

Andy: the big chestnut Quarter Horse, patient and kind and fun to be with, went to the Rainbow Bridge 10/19/07, but will live forever in his family's hearts.

In memory of Armstrong...

Here's my favorite picture of Armstrong. It shows him the way I remember him best when he first became my responsibility. I know he had a long history of achievement before I met him, but it's the last 10 years I'll remember and miss the most. A former racehorse, eventer, lesson horse and personality, he taught a lot of people about being better horsemen/women, not just being better riders.

NEER is sad to lose a great crusader for the NY kill pen horses.  Sharon Nealis lost her battle with cancer today, March 21st, 2007.... the first day of spring.  Sharon had been pulling horses from the kill pen for years, we were fortunate enough to hook up with her almost 2 years ago...she did a great deal for us, and the many horses that were lucky enough to catch her eye.

She will be missed, by many.

Here is her obituary, please sign the Guestbook.... Bill will appreciate it.
